Summer is approaching and for many of us that means home improvements. Perhaps you want to build a deck or fence. For dollar to dollar you might want to consider putting an aquarium inside your wall. The entire process could be done in an afternoon. A 4ft wall aquarium presentable on both sides of your wall will cost you less then $500. That includes the aquarium, filter, heater, studs and frame. Basically everything, even the fish!
Summer might also mean you need to monitor the temperature in your fish tank. Direct sunlight beaming through a window is a common evil. This causes the tank to heat up quickly and the fish will suffer. Placing the tank in a shaded location is important. Fish don't tan as well as humans.

       Accessing an In-Wall Aquarium

Is your family thinking of adding a tropical fish tank to your home? Fish tanks are a wonderful place to observe a habitat on a smaller scale. It’s like having your very own window into a fresh water riverbed or saltwater ocean. Bringing an aquarium into your home or office is a great way to add vibrant color and life to your interior, as well as learn more about part of the natural world often hidden from our everyday lives. Caring for a freshwater or marine tank can be fun and very rewarding.
Consider an aquarium inside your wall or a wall mounted fish tank. One that looks great on both sides and oozes class. Even the access point to feed and clean can be hidden under a picture frame style border. Good luck and enjoy your hobby.

This month's feature fish is the Strawberry Gramma.

The Purple Pseudochromis, a.k.a. Strawberry Gramma or Magenta Dottyback, is colored in a solid bright purple color. These fish make tremendous additions to reef tanks. They prefer lots of rockwork and do well in a community tank. Keep only one per tank and do not mix with other Basslets or Dottybacks.

The family of Dottybacks are well known for their elusive nature. These fish tend to stay within their crevice or cave until it is time to feed. Their color is usually quite dramatic and they are capable of changing their sex. When eggs are laid the males are known to pick up the eggs with their mouths in order to keep them aerated.

Personal note

Running a business occupies the majority of my time and when I'm off often you can find me at the gym. The last thing I really want to do is spend precious time cleaning an aquarium. Of course it looks great when I'm done and I find myself starring and admiring it but the less I need to clean the better.
That's why I was shocked to discover how low maintenance an Octagon aquarium is. I set up one of our table aquariums in my living room and it stays clean well past any other tank I've ever had. I don't even have a large filter on it. In fact, the filter says for tanks up to 8 gallons and the table is 25. The only conclusion I have to come to is the shape. Since it has no sharp corners the waste doesn't build up like it does in a rectangle. A small current seems to reach every end of the tank and back to the filter keeping it pristine. It's great for busy body like myself.
